Welcome to Breaking Free!

Breaking Free Therapeutic Riding Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) equine therapy center located in southeastern Ohio. Our mission is: Empowering individuals with diverse challenges through unique equine-assisted therapeutic experiences.

Breaking Free TRC has been in operation since 2008 and A Premier Accredited Center with PATH International since 2013. We offer several programs in a safe supportive environment. As a non-profit organization, and on Ohio Charity, Breaking Free Therapeutic Riding Center exists through the efforts of volunteers, donations, fundraisers, and sponsors.

 Riding can help:

Improve the individual's physical, psychological and cognitive abilities. The horse is a means of exercise, as well as a warm and friendly companion.

Who we serve:

In 2023 alone, Breaking Free Instructors taught over 1000 riding lessons with up to 40 riders each week with the help of over 70 volunteers and 15 equine partners.

PATH international

Breaking Free earned a Premier Accredited Center in 2013 through Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship Intl. We have been a PATH Center Member and followed their safety and program guidelines since 2009 when we began.

PATH is an international governing body that sets standards for equine therapy and equine facilitated learning for centers who provide services for the disabled. PATH Int. has been a leader in therapeutic riding since 1969. You can visit their website at http://www.pathintl.org

Our instructors are PATH Certified Registered Instructors who must complete training and testing to become certified. They also complete continuing education hours annually. PATH's training standards insure our instructors are highly trained and follow strict guidelines for the safety of our participants, volunteers, and equine partners.
