2026 Grant Announcement
In 2026, Breaking Free TRC was honored to receive generous grants from the J.W. & M.H. Straker Foundation and the Cora Rogge Foundation to help us construct a new stable for our equine partners.
This new stable will provide a safe and welcoming space for our horses while giving our students the opportunity to spend quality time with their special equine partners before and after classes. It will also allow us to expand our programs, host special events, provide volunteer training, and offer a variety of additional activities and educational opportunities.
We are incredibly grateful for the support of these foundations. Their generosity will help us continue creating meaningful experiences and opportunities for our students, volunteers, and equine partners for years to come.

2026 Grant Announcement
In 2026, the Belmont County Board of Developmental Disabilities awarded Breaking Free TRC a partnership grant that has made it possible for us to pour a new concrete pad, creating a safe and accessible pathway for our students to enter the arena and easily access the wheelchair ramp to mount their equine partners.
This important improvement enhances accessibility, safety, and independence for our students, allowing them to participate more comfortably and confidently in their therapeutic riding experiences. We are truly grateful for the continued support and partnership of the Belmont County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
2026 Muskingum County Community Foundation Grant
In 2026, Breaking Free TRC was grateful to receive generous grant support from the Muskingum Community Foundation. This funding provided much-needed assistance with payroll for our newest instructor-in-training as they complete their coursework and work toward becoming a certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor.
The Muskingum Community Foundation also provided funding to help cover the cost of our insurance coverage for 2026. The rising cost of insurance has always been a significant challenge for Breaking Free TRC, and this support has been especially meaningful. Because of the generosity of our community partners, we are able to continue providing our programs without passing these increased costs on to the students and families we serve.
We are deeply grateful to the Muskingum Community Foundation for investing in our instructors, our programs, and the individuals and families who depend on Breaking Free TRC.
read TO a horse!
Join us this Fall and READ TO A HORSE! November 14th 10am-2pm. Your child will have an hour to read to a real, live horse!! You may bring a book of your own or borrow one of ours.
There will be one 4-hour session, 10 am to to 2:00 pm.

We are teaming with the Muskingum County Literacy Council, who will provide your child with a free book! We will also have fun activities and crafts.

Children must be supervised by an adult, one adult per child please. All participants must sign the Liability Release Form before participating. We will have forms available at the event.
THINGS TO REMEMBER

Bring your favorite book, water (for yourself) and if you like, a treat for the horses (carrots or cut apples).

Wear proper clothing for the weather! You will be in the s tale so boots or old tennis shoes are preferred.

The $15 donation per family may be paid at the event with cash or credit.
