Our endowment supports the future. A forever endowment will help sustain Breaking Free TRC long into the future. Student fee’s make up just under one quarter of this budget and the generous annual donations of corporations, individual, foundation’s and community organization, along with annual fundraising events and endowments support represent the remainder of the required revenue. As the economy causes budgets to tighten and expenses associated with special need equipment and therapies to increase, additional support is critical. 1) Legal Name and DBA: Breaking Free Therapeutic Riding Center. Breaking Free provides therapeutic horseback riding activities for children with a wide variety of disabilities who qualify under the Americans with Disabilities Act. In addition to weekly riding sessions day camps are offered to children with disabilities from area schools; and special camps are dedicated to children with targeted disabilities including Autism and Down’s syndrome. We also offer sessions for at-risk children involved through Local Youth Centers. Additionally, Breaking Free coordinates with local VA Clinic(s) to provide free, weekly therapeutic horseback riding lessons to veterans. The lessons provide veterans the opportunity to establish social and emotional connections with the horses and volunteer veterans in a supportive, non-threatening environment.
Horse Donation - Most of our therapy horses have been donated to the center. All horses have a 6 week trial evaluation at the center before we accept them as part of our program. Currently we prefer horses between the ages of 5 -16 and in good health. You can contact us if you have a horse you are considering for donation.
Horse Sponsorship - Taking good care of our horses is a large part of our program budget. Sponsorships help purchase feed, hay, nutritional and medicinal supplements, bedding, farrier services, veterinary and dentistry care, and barn supplies such as feed tubs and water buckets, halters and lead ropes, fly spray, shampoo, liniment, wound-care materials, etc.
Wish list Donation - it takes a lot of supplies; from tack to feed to office supplies to educational materials to run our program. Please visit our Wishlist link for in-kind donations needed.
Student Scholarships - Because we recognize the value of horse therapy for persons with disabilities and want all students to be able to participate, we strive to offer scholarships to any student who needs one. Our goal is to provide equine activities for people with special needs regardless of their ability to pay. This can only be met through the generous donations of our sponsors.
