Changing Lives Through the Power of a Horse

Every day at Breaking Free Therapeutic Riding Center, we witness something special. Parents who once felt hopeless watch their children with disabilities gain confidence and balance with every ride. A little horse-loving girl blossomed as her speech improved and she began noticing the world around her. A boy connected with his horse partner and soon learned to connect with people, too.

These aren't just touching moments. They are powerful reminders of what happens when skilled professionals, compassionate volunteers, and gentle therapy horses come together with a single purpose: helping children and adults with disabilities and mental health challenges break free from their limitations. Providing this level of care takes more than heart. It takes training, safety equipment, specialized tack, adaptive facilities, veterinary care, and team members who are not only certified but deeply committed to every rider's success and well-being. Each session is the result of hours of preparation, professional expertise, and community partnerships.

Your financial support keeps our horses healthy, programs running, and our riders growing stronger with each visit. It additionally supports those who seek out help from Breaking Free, regardless of their ability to pay. This season, we were able to distribute more grants than ever before, and we will continue that assistance with your help.

Below are two heartfelt testimonials from parents who understand the power of the horse and how it has transformed their child's life. You too can change lives with a tax-deductible contribution of any amount, and together we will maintain a place where hope takes the reins and healing happens in every hoofbeat.

Noah

Our wonderful son, Noah, has loved horses for as long as we can remember, long before he could even express it in words. Because he struggled with verbal communication, connecting with other children his age was often difficult. We hoped that equine assisted therapy could provide him with an outlet to build social, emotional, and communication skills. After reaching out to several riding facilities that couldn't accommodate children with autism, we finally discovered Breaking Free, and it has been everything we dreamed of for Noah, and more. The staff and volunteers are so loving, patient, accommodating, and knowledgeable. We are endlessly grateful to have found such a warm, inclusive place where Noah can truly be himself, surrounded by what he loves most and able to make friends.

Madisyn

It's amazing, the wonders of horse therapy! With each year Maddi seems to blossom even more. I remember when I first signed her up for horse therapy, they told me it could help her with speech. I would be lying if I wasn't a tad bit skeptical; we had tried everything under the sun. How could riding a horse help develop speech? But with every passing week I watch in awe as her speech improves. She notices conversations, and cheers on her friends on their horses. If you ever considered horse therapy for your little one, I couldn't recommend it more!
